SEARCH AND RESCUE
The area is serviced by the South Columbia Search and Rescue group, formerly known as Beaver Valley Search and Rescue. The group assists with other SAR groups in BC and most often with the local SAR groups from Rossland, Castlegar and Nelson. All members are trained in GSAR (ground and inland water search and rescue). No prior training is required for interested new members, although an interest in outdoors and a basic level of fitness is a benefit. All GSAR training is provided by qualified local instructors. Specialized training opportunities also exist in the areas of rope rescue, swiftwater rescue and avalanche rescue and tracking. For more information, visit the group's website at South Columbia Search and Rescue
